A Spring Day in Oklahoma!

Yesterday was such a beautiful day and it was wonderful just to be outside enjoying the fresh air and the pretty day - knowing that soon it will be too hot to enjoy being outside. I took several pictures of the flowers outside my office and in our yard as well as the fields of clover that are everywhere around the city. Later last night we got to experience the other side of Spring in Oklahoma. We knew bad weather was likely so it came as no surprise when we had literally hours of weather reporting, storm sirens and tornado touchdowns around the city. I feel for those people who were affected by the storms but was relieved that nobody was seriously injured. Things finally quieted down and I was able to go to bed at 3:00 a.m.! Hopefully this will be the worst weather this Spring and not just the beginning of a long storm season!

An Attitude of Gratitude

This week the emotion for Tam's small book project was "gratitude". I love this devo song and thought it summed things up in a very simple way, so here are my pages. Only one more week to go!

The Problem With the Easter Lilly

So - Kim surprised me with this beautiful Easter Lilly yesterday. It was so thoughtful of him and such a sweet surprise. The Problem? Nobody can stand the smell! It's too pretty to throw away, but any time anyone enters the room they start looking around for the source of the odor! At first I couldn't decide if it was a pleasant odor or a stink, but the longer I smell it I'm forced to lean towards the stinky side. I finally put the lilly on the front porch where we could enjoy its beauty from inside the house through the window, but because the temperatures are still dipping pretty low overnight, I was compelled to bring it back in for the night - now the laundry room is fairly stinky and I'm about to trash the whole thing. It's a good thing it's the thought that counts, right???

Happy Easter!

I loved this picture that my friend Carolyn had in her siggie line. I hope she doesn't mind that I swiped it from her! God bless you today as you spend time with friends and family taking time to thank Him for His ultimate sacrifice.

This week Tam's assignment was Friendship. There were so many ideas to chose from and I quickly became overwhelmed with all my choices. Because of it's simplicity, I finally decided to use this old poem with some pictures of old and new friends. It was really a fun page, but I think I need to add another couple pages so that I can use more of those old pictures of people who are special to me.

WELCOME SPRING! After a long, dreary winter it's always refreshing to be able to open the windows and let in the fresh air, even though I realize it won't be consistently warm and sunny for another few weeks. Yesterday as I was running errands I couldn't help but notice the beautiful Bradford Pear trees in full bloom all around the city. They are usually some of the first trees to bud, and they look so delicate and lacy with all of their white blossoms. This morning when I went outside a little spot of yellow caught my eye - my first blooming daffodil this year! It was such a welcome sight and so appropriately appearing on the first day of Spring!

This past week's emotion was "Peace" and since this hymn immediately came to mind, the whole page definitely had a spiritual focus to it. I saw a bumper sticker that would have gone well with it, but didn't think of it until after my pages were already finished. It said: Know God - Know Peace; No God - No Peace. I thought that about summed it up.

Patience - Just a Little Bit Late

I got tied up with my out-of-towners last week and didn't get my emotions pages done until this week. The emotion Tam chose was "Patience" - how appropriate for my tardy pages! I made a list of some of the things I have the least patience for - stuff that just gets under my skin. Then I listed some quotes to help remind me not to "sweat the small stuff" and to remember "it's all small stuff".

So Short But So Sweet

Kristin was home for Spring Break last week and the time that she was here just flew by. Her friend, Matt, helped her drive home and we enjoyed their visit so much. Matt went on the Vienna Tour in 2007 and was excited to come back to Oklahoma to see the OC friends he made on the trip. He spent most evenings with them, while Kristin met up with her Vienna Tour 2006 friends and several of her old high school buddies. She made time to have several nice lunches with me and we had lots of time to talk. How is it possible that my little girl grew up so fast? I just hate that when she's home now it's only for a quick visit, but I know that she's happy and that's the main thing. Her next big adventure is a trip to China in May! Wow - what a life!

I love roses! Kristin's friend, Matt surprised me with this beautiful bouquet of red roses this evening - just because. I love them! I think I could get used to having this kid around all the time!

I've Been Tagged

Carman tagged me and I'm supposed to list seven random and/or wierd (you be the judge) facts about myself - so here goes:
1) I'm afraid of dogs;
2) I don't like anyone messing with my feet;
3) My dream house is a cabin on a lake in the country;
4) I like reading about historical events;
5) Sometimes there's nothing like a cold beer!
6) I'm a good swimmer - I used to compete on my school team;
7) Chewed gum totally grosses me out.
The rules:
Link to your tagger and post these 3 rules on your blog.
1. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.
2. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.
3. Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

Jenna got some really wonderful news this week!!! She was chosen for the Trustee's Scholarship at Rochester College in Rochester Hills, Michigan. The Trustee's Scholarship grants her FREE tuition for five years as long as she maintains a 3.5 gpa! We're so proud of her - not because of the scholarship, but because she's such a great kid! It's so cool that other people recognize her potential also! The scholarship was granted based on her ACT test scores, her high school transcript, letters of recommendation and an essay that she submitted. She really hasn't decided where she wants to go yet, but this will be good incentive to go to school in Michigan. I have mixed feelings. It's a great honor to have been chosen but it's so far from home and that makes me sad.

Reminisce Papers

My friends, Tami and Cheri are challenging each other to use up some of the papers in their stash. Every week they draw the name of a paper line to make a layout from that week. This week they used papers by Reminisce. Since I had some in my stash waiting to be used, I joined in on their challenge this week. Here is the layout I came up with (based on a scraplift game from a layout submitted by Carolyn Dempewolf at Creative Scrap Shack):
